Cannon Clarke Architects designed an underground swimming pool and spa complex seamlessly integrated into a steeply sloping site for a private, luxurious experience.

As part of the wider project, Cannon Clarke Architects were engaged for an underground spa and swimming pool design to be accessed via a secret stair from within the main house.

The complex includes provision for: – a 17.5m long, 2 lane swimming pool with changing facilities, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, home cinema, wine store, patio lounge lobby, and a ‘drive-in’ 4 berth garage.

The subterranean nature of the development, on the steeply sloping site, meant that the first basement level could open out to the garden at the rear and the lounge/lobby area interfaces with a secluded patio area nestled against an almond stone curved retaining wall with dressed stone arch reveals to the glazed openings.

The only other manifestation of the complex is the access ramp for the garage, along with rooflights and windows allowing natural daylight into the spaces below and glimpses of the sky or the landscape beyond, enhancing the bespoke spa and swimming pool design.
