Cannon Clarke Architects were appointed to extend and enhance an existing Victorian semi-detached family home, creating larger living area
The client brief was for a single storey rear extension that would create a larger living/ dining/ kitchen area.
The site constraints meant particular consideration had to be made to the neighbour’s amenity and Rights to Light, resulting in the final form of complex roof geometry and pitch and the creation of a semi-internal courtyard space.
The external material palette of timber shingles was chosen to unite both the treatment of the roof and the walls to a single legible entity.
The scheme was consented for Planning by Norwich City Council without contention.
