Cannon Clarke Architects are celebrating all women on International Women’s Day!

The topic of women in the construction industry has sparked an interesting debate in the office, which is 30% female, about how inclusive this male-dominant industry has changed over the last 20 years, and how comfortable our female workers feel not only in the office but when out on site, too.

According to the Office for National Statistics, only 15% of the construction workforce in the UK is female. This is a 1% increase from last year. Interestingly, there has been a decrease in the number of women working in the construction trade and operatives, but an increase in women in management and senior positions, between 2013 and 2023.

We hope to encourage good, strong women of all backgrounds to get interested, get involved, and hope to see a substantial increase of women working in our industry in the near future.
